Adam Raga finally secured his first Scottish Six Days Trial victory after a tense final-day showdown in Fort William, fending off a determined challenge from the Hemingway brothers to win the 2026 edition by a single mark.

The 44-year-old Spaniard, making his long-awaited return to the event, led from the outset and remained virtually flawless through the opening half of the week. A clean ride on Monday set the tone, and despite increasing pressure from a stacked field that included multiple former winners and world-class contenders, Raga held firm at the top of the leaderboard.

As the week progressed, George Hemingway and Jack Price emerged as his closest challengers, while Harry Hemingway remained firmly in contention. However, a dramatic penultimate day turned the standings on their head. Raga’s costly maximum in the final section at Fersit allowed George Hemingway to draw level heading into Saturday, setting up a winner-takes-all finale.

The decisive moment came early on the final day at Lower Fassfern. Raga incurred three marks across two sections, opening the door for his rivals. Harry Hemingway responded with a near-perfect ride to briefly move into contention, while George Hemingway’s challenge faltered with a five after an early mistake.

From there, the top three held their nerve through the remaining sections, with no further scores dropped. Raga’s total of 10 marks proved just enough to secure victory, with Harry Hemingway second on 11 and George third on 12.

It marked a historic triumph for Raga, who becomes one of the oldest winners in SSDT history and finally adds the prestigious event to his illustrious career.

After six gruelling days, 258 riders completed the course, underlining the enduring challenge and prestige of one of trials’ most iconic events.
